Dr. Benjamin Botsford is a Rhode Island native who graduated Phi Beta Kappa from New York University with a B.S. in neuroscience with honors. He then completed his MD at Tufts University School of Medicine. During his time in medical school, he spent time at the Wilmer Eye Institute investing utilizing stem cells for bioengineering of a lacrimal gland for treatment of aqueous deficient dry eye. He completed his transitional year internship at Steward Carney Hospital in Dorchester before attending UPMC for ophthalmology residency. His research interests have been varied with particular interest on surgical techniques and outcomes, including secondary IOLs and tPA for central retinal artery occlusion. He enjoys running, playing guitar, and trying to find and create the perfect coffee/espresso.
