Tigran Kostanyan, MD, was born and grew up in Yerevan, Armenia, he received his medical degree from Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi. He completed ophthalmology residency at S.V. Malayan Eye Center in Yerevan, Armenia. While in residency Tigran was working at Armenian Eye Care Project, a nonprofit organization founded by American ophthalmologists to fight preventable blindness in underserved areas of the country. After moving to United States Tigran joined Ophthalmic Imaging Research laboratory and worked with Dr. Joel Schuman, MD studying the role of ophthalmic imaging in diagnoses and monitoring of glaucoma progression. Tigran has since completed his internal medicine internship at Richmond University Medical Center in New York and ophthalmology residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has presented at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and published research in micro incisional glaucoma surgery, ophthalmic imaging and glaucoma progression. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, traveling, stand-up comedy.
