A Conversation With Dr. Rosin

 

Dr. Rosin has started his professional life as a Software Engineer, graduating Summa Cum Laude in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University, Israel. While being employed as a Software Engineer and constantly searching for more challenge and diversity in his work, Dr. Rosin decided to pursue a career in Medicine with the goal to combine his previous knowledge with his passion for Medical Science.

Dr. Rosin has subsequently completed the MD-PhD program (with distinctions) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His PhD project in Neurobiology investigated new approaches to Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson’s disease, culminating in top-tier publications1 and the receipt of multiple awards for his work. 

Dr. Rosin has completed the Israeli Residency Program in Ophthalmology at Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel attaining the Israeli Medical Board Certification in 2017. During 2017-2019 completed a 2-year Vitreoretinal Fellowship program at the same Center. After receiving a few substantial grants, established his own lab at Hadassah Medical Center, which investigates the processing of visual information within the Central Nervous System (CNS) and specifically explores ways of restoring visual information in blind rodents directly on the CNS level. His clinical interests include gene and cell therapy options for congenital retinal degenerations, vitreoretinal surgery as well as visual system electrophysiology. Personal hobbies include biking, his Jack Russel Terrier and classical music (amateur violinist).

Dr Rosin is currently performing a 3-year combined research and clinical vitreo-retinal fellowship at the Department of Ophthalmology/UPMC Eye Center in Pittsburgh.
